AMRESCO destaining bags efficiently remove Ethidium Bromide, Coomassie Blue, and other biological dyes from solution. The special adsorbent mixture retains dye molecules in a convenient bag for safe removal and incineration. Each bag will extract up to 5 mg of Ethidium Bromide from solution during an overnight treatment.

| Efficiency of the Destaining Bags when used with agarose gels |
The Destaining Bags from AMRESCO are an acid/base mixed bed of resin, which are expected to absorb 1-5 mg of ethidium bromide from gel solutions and running buffers after gentle overnight agitation. The intent of these bags is to remove hazardous dyes like ethidium bromide from gel solutions for easy disposal. For example, if you have a 200 ml solution with 2 g/L of ethidium bromide, the solution contains 200 mg of dye. To remove all the dye from the solution would require (200/5 =) 40 Destaining Bags. If the intent is to remove Coomassie from a solution, there are several issues that need to be understood first. The Coomassie molecule is over 2 times as large as the ethidium bromide molecule, which means dye removal will not be as effective as with ethidium bromide removal. Also, Coomassie R-250 is dissolved in an acetic acid solvent. When the Destaining Bags are placed into this solution the resin becomes saturated with the acetic acid, resulting in slower and not as effective removal of the dye. Concentration removal is claimed only for ethidium bromide removal from solution. Use for removal of other dyes may require less or more bags and time for complete treatment.

PAGE-PLUSTM is a high resolution matrix specifically designed for superb resolution of DNA sequencing products and low molecular weight DNA. This blend of specially modified acrylamides and proprietary cross-linkers enables researchers to gather up to 40% more readable sequence information per sequencing gel. The unique matrix of PAGE-PLUSTM gels leads to improved resolution, consistent band spacing, and faster running time over standard bis-acrylamide cross-linked gels. This novel matrix also exhibits increased mechanical strength to resist tearing during post-electrophoresis manipulations. PAGE-PLUSTM is available in a convenient 40% concentrated solution (PAGE-PLUSTM Concentrate) and ready-to-use concentrations specifically designed for DNA sequencing and other denaturing electrophoresis applications (Gene-PAGE PLUSTM ). PAGE-PLUSTM Concentrate is a 40% solution of modified acrylamides ideal for preparing custom gels of nearly any concentration. This concentrate is stable at room temperature for up to 1 year. PAGE-PLUSTM has been proven effective for use on a number of different gel sequencing platforms. The LiGatorTM Kit allows ligation reactions to be completed in just 15 minutes - much faster than the usual overnight protocol. This advanced method allows the user to purify, ligate, and transform all in one day. Positive colonies containing the construct of interest are now achieved overnight rather than in several days. The LiGatorTM Kit significantly reduces reaction time because it incorporates the theory of molecular crowding which not only speeds up the reaction, but also allows for more efficient cloning when using low concentrations of DNA. Additionally, by altering the distribution of ligation products, intermolecular ligation is minimized.

Loading dyes are designed to optimize loading DNA, RNA, and proteins in acrylamide and agarose gels. Loading dyes serve three functions in electrophoresis. First, dyes impart color to the sample to facilitate the loading process. Second, loading dyes increase the density of the sample to ensure efficient sample distribution into each well. Third, the dyes themselves migrate independently from the samples, allowing the user to estimate the migration of nucleic acids or proteins.

A widely used fluorescent stain for visualizing nucleic acids in solution or electrophoresis gels. At a concentration of 0.5 µg/ml, it is useful in agarose or acrylamide gels for band detection of as little as 10 ng of nucleic acid at 312 nm. At higher concentrations (0.5 - 1.0 µg/ml), Ethidium Bromide may be used to facilitate purification of DNA in a cesium chloride gradient.
