| Description: | Enterovirus enters the body through the gastrointestinal tract and thrives there, often moving on to attack the nervous system. Enteroviruses can be found in the respiratory secretions or stool of an infected person. Most people infected with Enterovirus have no disease at all. Infected people who become ill usually develop either mild upper respiratory symptoms, a flu-like illness with fever and muscle aches, or illness with rash. Less commonly, some people have aseptic or viral meningitis. Rarely, a person may develop an illness that affects the heart or the brain or causes paralysis. Enterovirus infections are suspected to play a role in the development of juvenile-onset diabetes mellitus. AmpliSens® Enterovirus PCR kits are built for the qualitative detection of Enterovirus RNA in the clinical material (CS fluid) and environmental samples (water samples). Tests are based on RNA detection and contain the Internal Control to control the RNA extraction and to identify possible reaction inhibition. |
