| Description: | Toxoplasma gondii - T. gondii is an obligate intracellular sporozoan; both sexual (enteroepithelial) and asexual (extraintestinal) reproductive cycles occur in felines, other species only undergo extraintestinal infection. Most infections are asymptomatic; mild cases with localized lymphadenopathy accompanied with fever, sore throat, rash, mimicking infectious mononucleosis in some individuals. Immunocompromised host suffers from widespread dissemination of the infection with pneumonitis, myocarditis and encephalitis. Congenital cases can result in the abortion and stillbirth, live births may result in the severe central nervous system involvement along with chorioretinitis. AmpliSens® Toxoplasma gondii-FRT PCR kit is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test for qualitative detection of Toxoplasma gondii DNA in clinical material (white blood cells of whole peripheral blood, autopsy material, cerebrospinal fluid, amniotic fluid) using real- time hybridization-fluorescence detection of amplified products. |
