| Description: | XIAP is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis family of proteins (IAP). Human members of this family include c-IAP1, c-IAP2, XIAP, survivin, livin, and NAIP. XIAP has a capacity to block apoptosis by directly inhibiting certain caspases. In addition to its antiapoptotic function, XIAP is involved in a variety of signaling pathways and/or cellular responses through ubiquitylation or as a signal transducer for the Nod-like receptors NOD1 and NOD2, which play a role in innate immunity. |
