| Description: | Antiviral Drug Target ׀ Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) or human beta herpesvirus 5 belongs to the viral family of herpesviruses. HCMV encodes for its own DNA polymerase and uses the host RNA polymerase for the transcription of all of its genes. The HCMV DNA polymerase is a key enzyme in the lytic phase of the infection. The HCMV DNA polymerase assay is based on measurement of the DNA molecules synthesized by the DNA polymerase in the presence of a DNA template and dNTPs. The assay can be performed in a 384-well or 96-well plate format for tests of the enzyme activities of HCMV DNA polymerases and high throughput screening of inhibitors. This product includes all the assay kit components for 100 assays in 384-well plate assay format: 400 ul of 10 x Buffer, 33 ul of 100 x DNA template, 33 ul of 100 x dNTP mix, 33 ul of 100 x HCMV DNA polymerase, 1550 ul of 2 x Dye, 1550 ul of 50 mM EDTA. |
